Prepare to get rick-rolled all over again! Rick Astley, the ’80s superstar who gave us the immortal “Never Gonna Give You Up,” is releasing a greatest hits compilation called The Best Of Me on October 24. The album includes all of his Stock Aitken Waterman era bops (“Together Forever,” “Whenever You Need Somebody” and “She Wants To Dance With Me”) as well as more recent cuts like “Lights Out,” “Angels On My Side” and “Beautiful Life.” There are some glaring omissions (his ’90s output is all but ignored), but it’s still a very satisfying tracklist.
Oh, and there’s also a bonus disc of reworked songs. “It’s been an amazing experience to rework ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’,” Rick reveals in the press release. “That song is part of my DNA and it means a lot to me. I hope people like what I’ve done with it as much as I do.” He then mentions the one new song, a soulful anthem called “Every One Of Us.” “[It’s] about the fire in all of us. We all have something to give, even if it doesn’t always feel like we do. I’m so lucky to feel that fire every time I’m on stage, and that helps me feel it in my everyday life too.”
